Happy Birthday Blog | One Year Old

Today my blog turns one year old! I started it last summer amidst searching for a nursing job, growing a gigantic garden, and starting a business with a new friend. After teaching her to make jam and selling her produce from my garden, a friend encouraged me to start writing a blog...a blog of all of my garden and cooking adventures.

A lot has changed in one year since I started writing. Our business, La Lune Events,  is booming and we are having the time of our lives designing and coordinating weddings. I got a job as a nurse at Hospice of North Idaho. And we welcomed a new little bundle into our lives...Sophia Grace.

We also moved to Hayden, Idaho and left our garden behind. It's the only thing I miss about Spokane but someday I know I will have a garden that beautiful again!

Here are some new things about my blog:

1. We now have our own url http://www.alisasgarden.com/

2. We now have our own facebook page! "Like" us over here on facebook.

3. You can follow the blog by email now. Enter your email at the top left corner and you'll get a little notification when there is a new post

4. And if you've been a reader for a long time or have just stumbled upon my blog, I'd love if you became a "follower!" Click "Join This Site" on the left hand side... you won't be disappointed!

Anyway, thanks for reading everyone! I promise I'll write and post new recipes soon...as soon as I get this mommy business figured out!

Stone Fruit Salad with Sweet Basil Lime Dressing

Finally a new recipe....

Baby Girl Slept in this morning and it gave me time to make this lovely salad and eat my breakfast outside!

Ingredients

Variety of Stone Fruits (necatrines, peaches, apricots, plums)
1 Lime
1/2 cup Honey
2 TBS Basil or Mint Leaves
1 small can Pineapple (plus juice)

Directions

Wash and slice up your fruit and place in a serving bowl. Add chunks of pineapple to add sweetness.

In a small bowl combine honey, juice of one lime, zest of one lime, 1/4 cup pineapple juice.

Mix your marinade and drizzle over your fruit. Allow it to marinate for about 30 minutes.

Serve with fresh basil and/or mint sprinkled on top!

This salad is so fast and easy to make and it looks beautiful!

Enjoy!

Stroller Moms | 6 Weeks Old

Today Sophie and I went to a mommy stroller group in downtown Coeur d'Alene. Of course, Sophie wouldn't stay calm in her stroller so I put her in our Baby Bjorn and walked her with all of the other moms.

It felt good to get an hour walk in around the lake! Thanks Kara for putting this together!

Kara owns Parkside Fitness and we both gave birth to our little girls on the same day! They are 6 weeks and 1 day old today!

Sophie's favorite place is either her changing table or the Baby Bjorn. She loves being upright and looking around.
Last weekend La Lune Events had a big wedding and Sophie worked with mama all day in the Bjorn. She was happy as a clam.

We are still getting settled into our new home but I am loving living in Coeur d'Alene and closer to my family. We live in a nice little neighborhood with lots of trails and a park. The prairie is windy but has beautiful sunsets and fields.

Sophie has had a little trouble with reflux lately and wants to be held upright all day long. This is our solution around the house.

This way I can get some work done and she can sleep happily! Since she was about 2 weeks old I have been back to "work." Not as a nurse but with my little business, La Lune! It has taken off this summer and I have thoroughly enjoyed running my own schedule and working from home. We have weddings just about every weekend this summer. Then towards the end of September I will return to work as a nurse at Hospice.

Second Anniversary

Today is our second anniversary. It feels like we've been married so much longer, though. I have known Kyle for 10 years now and I couldn't be happier spending my life with him!

I remember the first time I saw him and how handsome and strong I thought he was. He worked for my dad and was always fixing things and working around our property. I remember helping him build a fence for my horses and goats and that I was so shy I could hardly even talk to him as we built the fence.

(one of our first dates to Steptoe Butte. I was barely 17 shhh!)

I also remember running out to my garden as soon as I heard his truck coming down the road and "pretending" to pull weeds while secretly hoping he'd notice me and come say hi.

A few gardens later, here we are with our beautiful baby girl (who is 6 weeks old tomorrow)! We've been through a few struggles and road blocks as many of you know but we have weathered them quite well together and they have only made us stronger.

He builds me up and I try to build him up in our daily lives. As we get settled into our new home, our new roles as mommy and daddy, and our new business pursuits life proves to not be getting any easier. I am so thankful for him by my side and seeing him as a daddy to our little Sophie makes my love for him grow deeper every day!

Happy Anniversary! I love you!

One Month

Baby Girl was one month old on July 7th! It has gone so fast!

I'm still adjusting to being a mommy but loving it!

We have been busy with our summer of La Lune Events weddings. Sophia did so well last weekend at our wedding at Trezzi farm. And she tags along to all of our meetings and is usually such a little angel!

Nana made her these monthly onsies! She already seems so big!

She's starting to smile more and more and LOVES laying on her changing table!

As of late...

Sophie is getting bigger each day! (kind of makes me sad..I love how little she is)

We are still in the process of moving into our new home in Hayden...hopefully we'll be in this weekend. We've been staying with Nana and Peepaw and have turned there house into Baby Land!

Last week I took Sophie to my first La Lune business meeting with me. She was a little angel! She has been so good at every meeting so far..hoping it lasts!

We are also enjoying the first real sunshine in Idaho this year..and trying to keep Sophie out of it. Isn't she stylish in her little hat and sunglasses?

She will be one month old on Tuesday! The month has flown by but I have enjoyed every minute of my sweet, snugly baby!

I promise new recipes are coming as soon as I get settled into my new kitchen!
