I grew Dahlias for the first time this year. I didn't do a very good job of pruning them and all the "care" that goes into getting those dinner plate size heads. But the few that I did get turned out beautifully!
So pretty! Dahlias are one of my favorite flowers in the garden, by far. I think they were made for photographing because your photos of them are lovely.
I've read so many different fussy ways to take care of them, and I have to tell you....I have never dug mine up in the 10 years I've been growing them. I just make sure they get summer water, and that I put those hoop stakes around them when they start growing because they get big and will flop if I don't.
