June 2012 Snapshots

We bought a new place....in Dalton Gardens! We won't be moving in right away. It's a little tiny farm house. It needed lots of updates. Kyle couldn't bear the thought of just updating it superficially so he ripped out all of the old down to the studs, reworked the 800 sq. foot floor plan and is starting fresh. It will be tiny but a nice place to live while we build our new house. My favorite part is the little red barn on the property! My future studio.

Earlier this month I had the amazing opportunity to participate in The Farm Chicks Show. Serena and some of her vendors rented from the Attic. It was a great experience and I look forward to it again next year!

Our community garden is doing well! We have an abundance of lettuce right now!

Our chickens are almost full grown. They live at the community garden. That tall one turned out to be a rooster...I hope he stays nice!

I've been styling many engagement and editorial shoots this spring via Alisa Lewis Event Design. I love it!

These are some snap shots of a suspended window wall we created in a winery. It was the backdrop for a wedding ceremony!

This was another wedding the same day! Love the mix of vintage plates, chairs, and umbrellas!

Loved travelling to Othello for this wedding! Spending the weekend in an orchard was fun!

We are all set up with cruisers and a trailer for the little one now! We decided to ride from our house down the Prairie trail to downtown then over to our new house. It took 5 hours...but it was a nice way to spend a Sunday!

I've been a busy bee and I'm loving it. "Make it Happen" is definitely my perspective on life right now! My new business ventures are happening, my baby girl is growing, and life is good!

I recently was hired to style a wedding! I was brought on about a week before the event. I did help styled the bridal and bridal party pictures with my props. For the reception, I used the props the family had already purchased and incorporated some of my own to create a winter wonderland ice skating feel. The outside pictures turend out fabulous! Zach Mather's Photography took the one above. The venue was the most difficult space I've had to work with but we made it happen! I can't wait to show you before and after pics! Below is a little cell phone pic I took. White trees are not really my thing but they worked! 

 This past weekend I participated in Cutom Weddings Norhtwest. I am part of this amazing community of talented wedding professionals in our area. The event was great! Here's a few snapshots of my space. I designed 3 booths myself and provided props to a total of 7 booth spaces!

Sophia just learned to crawl over the weekend. It's so cute but now we have to work on making things safe around the house!

This weekend I also helped with a few photoshoots at The Blackwell House, my newest project. More info to come!

January Weekend

I turned 23 years old yesterday. I kept forgetting it was my birthday and had a hard time resisting the urge to work all day on my business, website, contracts, and proposals. I made my self lay in bed for about 15 minutes to watch Grey's Anatomy but then Sophia woke up and my busy day as a mommy and business owner began. The work never stops but it's the kind of work I love and it energizes me! We went to dinner with family and a few friends last night. I had a basil martini! 

My mom used to fill my room and bathroom with balloons and flowers every morning on my birthday before I woke up. She snuck into our house the other night to do the same! Thanks Mom!

My family also gave me this necklace as a birthday gift. I like to call it a key to the Attic!

Kyle built this for me this weekend. First it will be a kissing booth then the possibilities are endless...a lemonade stand, bake sale stand, drink or dessert bar for an event. It's so cute and I can't wait for someone to rent it from the Attic. 

Somebody also enjoyed feeding herself this weekend!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

My mom & dad have been married 23 years today!

They have been such a great example of how a successful marriage works! They have always been wonderful parents to my brother and I! And Kyle & I are so thankful to have mentors like my mom & dad in our lives. They are definitely more like best friends to us than parents! And they couldn't be more excited to be Nana & Grandad to their first grandchild!

We love you!

Happy Birthday Nana!

Today would be Nana's 92nd birthday!

 Maria Meurs was born August 19th, 1918 in Albany, New York to Simon & Grace Meurs. Nana's family was Dutch and originated from Skagen, Holland. Nana met Papa, Giles Davis Clark, Jr., in Albany when  they were teenagers. They lived down the street from each other and secretly passed love notes until they were old enough to marry. (I'll blog about that soon!)

My family says I remind them of Nana. Nana inspired me from a very young age to cook and bake. My favorite memory is making cookies with her.

This is how I remember Nana.

Nana was known for hosting fabulous dinner and cocktail parties. She loved to cook & bake! Nana hand wrote hundreds of her recipes on beautiful note cards. In December 1996, my mom put those recipes together in a cook book that she had printed and bound for her sisters and for Papa. It's my favorite cook book of all time! (I'll share some of those recipes soon!)

Nana passed away in 2001. We miss her dearly! I wish she was here to cook with me and help me garden. I cherish the memories I have with her in her kitchen, the recipes she left for us, and the beautiful photos of her!
